Criminal justice clients are individuals who are in any kind of drug and alcohol rehabilitation program as a result of alcohol or drug related criminal offense. This will happen for example if a person is found guilty of driving under the influence or DWI, and for any other type of drug related offense which has led the judge to think that the individual has any kind of drug or alcohol use issue. Not everyone has the option of taking part in a drug and alcohol rehab program as a criminal justice client, but if this option is ordered through the court it's wise that the individual try everything they are able to to make the most of this opportunity. Oftentimes, other penalties and consequences could be completely eliminated or lessened if the individual does well in rehabilitation and finishes the drug treatment facility which has been ordered for them. First time offenders are the most probable criminal justice clients because it has been established that criminal justice clients who do take part in rehab instead of other penalties have significantly lower recidivism rates than those who are ordered to time in jail or similar consequences. In the end, it saves a legal court system both time and money when criminal justice clients receive effective rehabilitation.
