DUI/DWI clients who are involved in drug rehabilitation facilities are either there by their own choice, but most of the time in alcohol and drug rehabilitation as part of a mandated court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, particularly initial offenders may be required to go to rehabilitation either in lieu of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from rehab rather than being punished because of their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been determined that those who are treated for drug abuse issues as an alternative to other penalties being enforced upon them have much better chances of staying out of the court system than those who find themselves fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In drug and alcohol treatment programs DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse alcohol and drugs, in order to address these issues in order to find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances within their lives which trigger their drug abuse. This can certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be impacted by their drug or alcohol use whenever they drive while under the influence in the foreseeable future. It is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
