DUI/DWI clients who're involved in drug and alcohol treatment facilities are generally there by their own choice, but most of the time in alcohol and drug treatment as part of a mandated order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, especially first-time offenders could be required to go to rehab either in lieu of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from rehabilitation as opposed to being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the court system. It has been verified that those who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues as opposed to other penalties being forced upon them have far better odds of staying out of the courts than those who find themselves fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In drug rehab centers DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to enable them to address these issues in order to find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances inside their lives which prompt their substance abuse. This can truly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people who may be affected by their drug or alcohol use should they drive while drunk or high in the future.
