Criminal justice clients are people who are in any type of drug and alcohol treatment facility because of alcohol or drug related offense. This will occur for example if someone else is convicted of drunk driving or DWI, or any other type of drug related crime that has led the court to believe the individual has any kind of drug abuse issue. Not everybody has the option of taking part in a drug and alcohol treatment center as a criminal justice client, however, if this option is ordered from the judge it is well advised that the individual try everything they are able to to benefit from this opportunity. In many cases, other penalties and consequences could be completely eliminated or lessened when the individual succeeds in rehabilitation and completes the drug and alcohol rehabilitation facility that is ordered for them. New offenders are the most likely criminal justice clients because it has been proven that criminal justice clients that do experience rehab in place of other penalties have significantly lower recidivism rates than those who are ordered to prison time or similar consequences. In the long run, it saves a legal court system both time and expense when criminal justice clients receive effective rehabilitation.
