DUI/DWI clients who're taking part in drug and alcohol treatment facilities are either there by their own choice, but more often than not in drug and alcohol rehabilitation due to a mandatory court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, particularly first-time offenders might be required to go to treatment either instead of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from treatment rather than being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been established that those who are treated for drug abuse issues as an alternative to other penalties being forced upon them have much better odds of staying out of the court system than people who find themselves fined, ordered to prison time, etc. In alcohol and drug rehabilitation facilities DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse drugs and alcohol, to be able to address these problems in order to find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances inside their lives which trigger their drug abuse. This can truly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be affected by their drug abuse when they drive while intoxicated in the foreseeable future. This is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
