DUI/DWI clients who are taking part in drug treatment facilities are either there on their own accord, but most of the time in drug rehab due to a mandated order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, particularly first-time offenders could be ordered to rehabilitation either instead of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from treatment rather than being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been determined that those who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues rather than other penalties being enforced upon them have greater chances of remaining out from the courts than people who find themselves fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In alcohol and drug treatment programs DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to enable them to address these problems and find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances in their lives which set off their drug or alcohol use. This will certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people that may be affected by their drug or alcohol use when they drive while under the influence down the road. It is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
