Criminal justice clients are people who are in any type of alcohol and drug rehabilitation facility due to alcohol or drug related criminal offense. This will happen for example if someone else is convicted of a DUI or DWI, or any other type of drug related crime which has led the judge to believe that the individual has any type of substance abuse issue. Not everyone has the option of taking part in a drug and alcohol treatment center as a criminal justice client, but if this approach is ordered by the judge it really is strongly advised that the individual do everything they are able to to benefit from this opportunity. Most of the time, other penalties and consequences can be completely eradicated or lessened if the individual succeeds in rehab and completes the drug and alcohol treatment program that is ordered for them. First time offenders would be the most likely criminal justice clients because it has been verified that criminal justice clients who experience rehabilitation in lieu of other consequences have much lower recidivism rates than those who find themselves ordered to incarceration or similar consequences. In the long run, it saves the court system both time and money when criminal justice clients obtain effective rehabilitation.
