DUI/DWI clients who are involved in alcohol and drug rehab facilities are either there on their own accord, but more often than not in alcohol and drug rehabilitation as part of a mandated order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, particularly initial offenders may be required to go to rehabilitation either instead of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehab instead of being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been determined that those who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues instead of other penalties being enforced upon them have much better chances of staying out from the courts than those who are fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In drug treatment facilities DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to enable them to address these issues and find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances in their lives which prompt their drug or alcohol use. This could certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people that may be affected by their drug or alcohol use when they drive while drunk or high later on. It is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
