It has been established that individuals who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues instead of other penalties being enforced upon them have greater chances of staying out from the court system than those who find themselves fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In drug rehabilitation facilities DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse drugs and alcohol, so that they can address these problems and find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances inside their lives which set off their drug abuse. This could truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people who may be affected by their substance abuse when they drive while under the influence in the future.
