Criminal justice clients are individuals who are in any kind of drug and alcohol rehab program as a result of alcohol or drug related criminal offense. This can occur for instance when someone is convicted of driving under the influence or DWI, or for any other kind of drug related offense that has led the court to believe the individual has any sort of drug abuse issue. Not everyone has the option of getting involved in an alcohol and drug rehabilitation facility as a criminal justice client, but if this option is ordered by the judge it is strongly advised that the individual do everything they can to make the most of this opportunity. On many occasions, other penalties and consequences can be completely eliminated or lessened if the individual succeeds in treatment and completes the drug and alcohol rehabilitation center that has been ordered for them. Very first time offenders are the most probable criminal justice clients because it has been proven that criminal justice clients who do experience treatment in place of other consequences have much lower recidivism rates than those who find themselves ordered to jail time or receive other penalties. Eventually, it saves a legal court system both time and money when criminal justice clients receive effective rehab.
