DUI/DWI clients that are involved in drug rehab facilities are either there by their own choice, but more often than not in drug and alcohol rehab as part of a mandated court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, particularly initial offenders could be ordered to rehabilitation either in lieu of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehab instead of being punished for their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been determined that those who are treated for substance abuse issues as an alternative to other penalties being forced upon them have much better chances of staying out of the courts than those who find themselves fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In alcohol and drug treatment facilities DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse drugs and alcohol, so that they can address these problems and find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances within their lives which trigger their drug abuse. This could certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be impacted by their drug abuse if they drive while drunk or high down the road. This is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
