DUI/DWI clients that are involved in alcohol and drug rehabilitation facilities are generally there by their own choice, but usually in drug rehab as part of a mandated court order. DUI/DWI clients, particularly initial offenders may be ordered to treatment either in lieu of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from treatment as an alternative to being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been proven that individuals who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues as opposed to other penalties being enforced upon them have far better odds of remaining out from the courts than those who find themselves fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In drug and alcohol treatment centers DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse alcohol and drugs, so that they can address these problems and find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances inside their lives which set off their drug or alcohol use. This will certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be affected by their substance abuse whenever they drive while drunk or high later on. This is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
