DUI/DWI clients that are taking part in drug and alcohol treatment centers are generally there on their own accord, but most of the time in alcohol and drug rehab due to a mandatory court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, specifically first-time offenders could be ordered to rehab either instead of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from treatment instead of being punished because of their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been verified that individuals who are treated for substance abuse issues as an alternative to other penalties being forced upon them have far better odds of staying out from the courts than those who find themselves fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In drug treatment facilities DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse drugs and alcohol, to enable them to address these issues in order to find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances inside their lives which trigger their drug or alcohol use. This may truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people that may be impacted by their drug or alcohol use when they drive while intoxicated in the future.
