DUI/DWI clients that are involved in drug rehab centers are either there on their own accord, but usually in drug rehab as part of a mandated order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, particularly first-time offenders could possibly be ordered to rehab either instead of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from treatment as an alternative to being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the court system. It has been proven that individuals who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues instead of other penalties being enforced upon them have much better odds of staying out of the court system than people who find themselves fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In drug and alcohol treatment centers DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse drugs and alcohol, so that they can address these problems and find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances inside their lives which prompt their drug or alcohol use. This could certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people who may be impacted by their substance abuse when they drive while drunk or high in the future. This is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
