DUI/DWI clients who're involved in alcohol and drug treatment programs are generally there on their own accord, but more often than not in drug and alcohol rehabilitation as part of a mandated order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, specifically first-time offenders could be required to go to rehabilitation either instead of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from treatment rather than being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been established that people who are treated for substance abuse issues rather than other penalties being forced upon them have far better odds of remaining out from the courts than those people who are fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In drug and alcohol rehab centers DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to enable them to address these issues in order to find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances within their lives which trigger their drug or alcohol use. This will truly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be impacted by their drug or alcohol use when they drive while under the influence in the future. It is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
