DUI/DWI clients who're involved in drug and alcohol rehabilitation programs are either there on their own accord, but most of the time in drug and alcohol rehabilitation due to a mandatory order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, particularly first-time offenders might be required to go to treatment either in lieu of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from treatment rather than being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been determined that individuals who are treated for substance abuse issues as opposed to other penalties being enforced upon them have far better odds of staying out of the court system than people who find themselves fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In alcohol and drug rehab centers DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to enable them to address these issues and find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances inside their lives which prompt their substance abuse. This could certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be impacted by their drug or alcohol use if they drive while drunk or high in the foreseeable future. It's a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
