DUI/DWI clients who are involved in alcohol and drug rehab facilities are either there by their own choice, but more often than not in drug rehabilitation as part of a mandated court order. DUI/DWI clients, specifically initial offenders could be required to go to rehab either instead of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from rehabilitation rather than being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been determined that people who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues instead of other penalties being enforced upon them have greater chances of remaining out of the court system than those who find themselves fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In drug rehab programs DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse alcohol and drugs, so that they can address these issues and find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances inside their lives which trigger their drug or alcohol use. This will truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people that may be impacted by their drug or alcohol use should they drive while intoxicated in the foreseeable future. This is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
