DUI/DWI clients who're involved in drug treatment facilities are generally there by their own choice, but generally in drug and alcohol treatment as part of a mandatory court order. DUI/DWI clients, specifically initial offenders could be required to go to rehabilitation either instead of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from rehabilitation as opposed to being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been proven that those who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues as opposed to other penalties being enforced upon them have greater chances of remaining out of the court system than those people who are fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In drug rehab centers DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to enable them to address these problems in order to find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances inside their lives which trigger their substance abuse. This can truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be impacted by their substance abuse whenever they drive while intoxicated down the road. It is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
