DUI/DWI clients who are involved in drug and alcohol treatment centers are generally there by their own choice, but usually in alcohol and drug rehab due to a mandated order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, particularly first-time offenders may be required to go to rehab either in place of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from rehab as an alternative to being punished for their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been proven that individuals who are treated for drug abuse issues instead of other penalties being enforced upon them have much better odds of remaining out of the courts than those people who are fined, ordered to prison time, etc. In drug and alcohol treatment centers DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse drugs and alcohol, to enable them to address these problems and find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances in their lives which set off their drug abuse. This can truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people who may be impacted by their drug abuse if they drive while intoxicated in the future. It is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
