DUI/DWI clients who're involved in alcohol and drug rehab facilities are either there by their own choice, but most of the time in alcohol and drug rehab as part of a mandatory court order. DUI/DWI clients, specifically first-time offenders could possibly be ordered to treatment either in place of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from rehabilitation rather than being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been determined that those who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues instead of other penalties being enforced upon them have far better odds of staying out of the courts than those who are fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In alcohol and drug rehabilitation programs DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse drugs and alcohol, to enable them to address these problems in order to find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances in their lives which trigger their substance abuse. This can certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people who may be affected by their drug or alcohol use should they drive while drunk or high down the road. It's a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
