DUI/DWI clients who're taking part in drug rehabilitation programs are generally there by their own choice, but usually in drug rehabilitation as part of a mandated order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, particularly first-time offenders may be ordered to treatment either in place of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehab as opposed to being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been determined that those who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues rather than other penalties being forced upon them have greater chances of staying out from the courts than those people who are fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In alcohol and drug rehab centers DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse alcohol and drugs, so that they can address these issues and find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances within their lives which prompt their drug abuse. This can truly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people that may be affected by their drug abuse should they drive while under the influence down the road. This is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
