DUI/DWI clients, particularly initial offenders may be ordered to rehabilitation either instead of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehabilitation as opposed to being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the court system. It has been proven that those who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues instead of other penalties being enforced upon them have far better chances of remaining out from the courts than those people who are fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In drug treatment programs DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse drugs and alcohol, to be able to address these issues and find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances inside their lives which set off their drug abuse. This could truly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be affected by their drug abuse when they drive while under the influence later on.
