DUI/DWI clients that are taking part in drug rehabilitation centers are either there by their own choice, but more often than not in drug and alcohol rehabilitation as part of a mandated court order. DUI/DWI clients, especially initial offenders could possibly be ordered to treatment either in place of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from rehab as an alternative to being punished because of their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been established that people who are treated for drug abuse issues rather than other penalties being forced upon them have much better odds of staying out from the court system than those who are fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In drug and alcohol rehab programs DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse drugs and alcohol, in order to address these problems and find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances in their lives which prompt their drug abuse. This can certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be impacted by their drug or alcohol use if they drive while under the influence down the road. It is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
