Dual diagnosis is a circumstance in which two independent disorders exist, and most often describes a co-occurring drug abuse and mental health disorder. A dual diagnosis can help an individual who may not have been capable of being helped during the past, end substance abuse because they can be correctly diagnosed and helped. Their mental health disorder could have been misdiagnosed, not diagnosed at all, or treated incorrectly that may have triggered and resulted in their drug abuse problems. Establishing the fact that someone is certainly a dual diagnosis client not merely helps establish an effective course of treatment for them, but may also help clients better know what led to their drug use and the way to prevent it later on. Handling dual diagnosis may be a more extensive process than the usual typical drug rehab program, and individuals with a dual diagnosis may need to take part in a substantial aftercare program that might include proper medical support along with continued rehabilitation services. Being identified as having co-occurring disorders doesn't signify the individual will have to be medicated for the rest of their lives either, and actually lots of people who have a dual diagnosis experience more effective results when treated holistically and when alternative treatment solutions are employed.
