DUI/DWI clients that are taking part in drug rehab programs are generally there by their own choice, but generally in alcohol and drug rehab due to a mandated court order. DUI/DWI clients, particularly first-time offenders might be required to go to treatment either in place of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehab as an alternative to being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the court system. It has been verified that people who are treated for drug abuse issues as opposed to other penalties being forced upon them have much better chances of staying out of the courts than people who find themselves fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In alcohol and drug rehabilitation facilities DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse drugs and alcohol, to enable them to address these issues in order to find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances in their lives which set off their drug or alcohol use. This will truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be affected by their drug abuse should they drive while drunk or high in the foreseeable future. It is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
