DUI/DWI clients that are involved in drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers are generally there on their own accord, but more often than not in drug rehabilitation due to a mandatory court order. DUI/DWI clients, specifically first-time offenders might be ordered to rehabilitation either instead of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from rehab as opposed to being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the court system. It has been determined that those who are treated for substance abuse issues as opposed to other penalties being enforced upon them have far better odds of remaining out of the courts than those who are fined, ordered to prison time, etc. In alcohol and drug rehabilitation programs DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse drugs and alcohol, in order to address these problems in order to find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances in their lives which set off their drug abuse. This may truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people who may be impacted by their substance abuse if they drive while under the influence later on. It is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
