DUI/DWI clients who are involved in drug rehabilitation centers are either there on their own accord, but generally in drug and alcohol treatment as part of a mandatory order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, especially initial offenders may be ordered to treatment either in place of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehab as opposed to being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been determined that people who are treated for substance abuse issues instead of other penalties being enforced upon them have greater chances of remaining out from the courts than people who find themselves fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In drug rehabilitation facilities DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse drugs and alcohol, in order to address these issues and find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances in their lives which prompt their drug abuse. This will truly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be impacted by their drug or alcohol use should they drive while intoxicated in the future. It is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
