DUI/DWI clients who're taking part in drug treatment centers are generally there by their own choice, but most of the time in drug treatment as part of a mandated order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, specifically initial offenders may be required to go to treatment either in lieu of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from treatment rather than being punished because of their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been established that those who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues rather than other penalties being forced upon them have much better chances of remaining out of the court system than those who find themselves fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In drug and alcohol rehabilitation facilities DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse drugs and alcohol, in order to address these issues and find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances inside their lives which prompt their drug or alcohol use. This could truly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people that may be impacted by their drug or alcohol use should they drive while drunk or high later on. It is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
