DUI/DWI clients that are involved in alcohol and drug rehabilitation facilities are either there on their own accord, but generally in alcohol and drug rehabilitation due to a mandated order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, specifically initial offenders could be ordered to rehabilitation either in place of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from rehab as an alternative to being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been verified that people who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues as an alternative to other penalties being forced upon them have greater odds of remaining out of the court system than those who are fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In alcohol and drug rehab centers DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse drugs and alcohol, to be able to address these problems in order to find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances in their lives which set off their drug or alcohol use. This may truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people that may be impacted by their drug abuse if they drive while under the influence later on. It is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
