DUI/DWI clients who're taking part in drug treatment facilities are generally there on their own accord, but more often than not in drug and alcohol treatment due to a mandated court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, especially initial offenders may be ordered to rehabilitation either in place of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from treatment instead of being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been verified that people who are treated for substance abuse issues as opposed to other penalties being forced upon them have greater odds of staying out of the court system than people who find themselves fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In drug treatment centers DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse alcohol and drugs, in order to address these problems and find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances in their lives which set off their substance abuse. This could truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people that may be affected by their drug abuse should they drive while intoxicated in the future.
