DUI/DWI clients that are involved in alcohol and drug rehab facilities are either there by their own choice, but more often than not in drug rehabilitation as part of a mandated order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, especially first-time offenders may be required to go to rehabilitation either in place of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from rehab instead of being punished for their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been determined that people who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues as opposed to other penalties being forced upon them have far better odds of staying out from the courts than those who are fined, ordered to prison time, etc. In alcohol and drug treatment centers DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to enable them to address these issues and find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances in their lives which prompt their drug or alcohol use. This can truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people that may be impacted by their drug or alcohol use if they drive while drunk or high later on. It is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
