DUI/DWI clients who're taking part in drug and alcohol treatment facilities are either there by their own choice, but generally in drug and alcohol treatment due to a mandatory order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, specifically first-time offenders might be ordered to rehabilitation either in lieu of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from treatment rather than being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been determined that people who are treated for drug abuse issues as opposed to other penalties being forced upon them have greater chances of staying out from the court system than those people who are fined, ordered to prison time, etc. In alcohol and drug treatment facilities DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse alcohol and drugs, so that they can address these problems and find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances inside their lives which prompt their substance abuse. This will certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be affected by their drug or alcohol use when they drive while drunk or high later on. It's a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
