DUI/DWI clients who're taking part in drug and alcohol rehab centers are generally there on their own accord, but more often than not in drug and alcohol rehabilitation as part of a mandatory court order. DUI/DWI clients, specifically first-time offenders could possibly be required to go to treatment either in place of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from rehab as opposed to being punished because of their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been established that people who are treated for substance abuse issues instead of other penalties being forced upon them have far better chances of remaining out of the courts than people who find themselves fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In drug and alcohol rehabilitation programs DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to enable them to address these problems in order to find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances inside their lives which prompt their drug or alcohol use.
