DUI/DWI clients who are involved in alcohol and drug rehabilitation facilities are generally there on their own accord, but generally in drug and alcohol rehabilitation due to a mandatory court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, especially first-time offenders could be ordered to treatment either in lieu of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from rehab instead of being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been verified that individuals who are treated for substance abuse issues as opposed to other penalties being enforced upon them have greater odds of remaining out of the court system than those who find themselves fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In drug rehab programs DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to be able to address these problems and find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances in their lives which set off their substance abuse. This will truly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be affected by their substance abuse if they drive while under the influence down the road. It is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
