Criminal justice clients are those who are in any sort of alcohol and drug treatment program because of alcohol or drug related criminal offense. This will happen for example when someone is found guilty of driving under the influence or DWI, and for any other kind of drug related crime which has led the court to believe that the individual has any sort of drug or alcohol use issue. Not everyone has the option of getting involved in an alcohol and drug rehabilitation program as a criminal justice client, but if this approach is ordered by the judge it is well advised that the individual do everything they can to get the most from this opportunity. In many cases, other penalties and consequences may be totally eliminated or lessened when the individual does well in rehab and completes the drug treatment program which was ordered for them. New offenders are the most likely criminal justice clients because it has been determined that criminal justice clients that take part in rehabilitation in lieu of other consequences have much lower recidivism rates than those who find themselves ordered to time in jail or similar consequences. In the long run, it saves a legal court system both money and time when criminal justice clients receive powerful rehab.
