Criminal justice clients are individuals who are in any kind of drug and alcohol treatment program due to a drug or alcohol related offense. This will occur for instance if someone is convicted of driving under the influence or DWI, and for any other kind of drug related crime that has led the judge to think that the individual has any sort of substance abuse issue. Not every person has the option of getting involved in a drug treatment center as a criminal justice client, but when this option is ordered by the court it is wise that the individual try everything they can to take full advantage of this opportunity. On many occasions, other penalties and consequences could be entirely eradicated or lessened when the individual succeeds in rehabilitation and finishes the drug and alcohol rehab center which has been ordered for them. First time offenders are the most probable criminal justice clients because it has been established that criminal justice clients that do experience rehabilitation in lieu of other penalties have significantly lower recidivism rates than people who find themselves ordered to time in jail or receive other penalties. Eventually, it saves a legal court system both time and money when criminal justice clients receive powerful treatment.
