Criminal justice clients are those who are in any kind of drug and alcohol treatment facility as a result of alcohol or drug related crime. This will happen for instance when someone is found guilty of drunk driving or DWI, and for any other type of drug related offense which has led the court to believe the individual has any type of drug abuse issue. Not everyone has the option of getting involved in a drug and alcohol treatment center as a criminal justice client, but if this approach is ordered by the court it is wise that the individual try everything they can to get the most from this opportunity. On many occasions, other penalties and consequences could be completely eradicated or lessened in the event the individual succeeds in rehabilitation and finishes the drug and alcohol rehabilitation center that is ordered for them. First time offenders would be the most probable criminal justice clients because it has been verified that criminal justice clients who take part in rehabilitation in lieu of other consequences have much lower recidivism rates than those people who are ordered to time in jail or similar consequences. In the long run, it saves the court system both time and money when criminal justice clients obtain effective treatment.
