DUI/DWI clients that are taking part in alcohol and drug treatment facilities are generally there by their own choice, but usually in drug rehabilitation as part of a mandatory order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, specifically first-time offenders could be required to go to rehabilitation either in place of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehab as opposed to being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been verified that individuals who are treated for substance abuse issues instead of other penalties being forced upon them have much better odds of remaining out from the courts than those who are fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In alcohol and drug treatment centers DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse alcohol and drugs, in order to address these issues in order to find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances in their lives which prompt their drug abuse. This can truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be affected by their drug abuse whenever they drive while intoxicated in the foreseeable future.
