Criminal justice clients are those who are in any type of drug treatment program on account of a drug or alcohol related crime. This can occur for example if someone else is convicted of a DUI or DWI, or for any other kind of drug related crime which has led the judge to think that the individual has any kind of drug abuse issue. Not every person has the option of taking part in a drug rehab facility as a criminal justice client, but if this option is ordered from the court it's well advised that the individual do everything they can to get the most from this opportunity. Most of the time, other penalties and consequences may be entirely eliminated or lessened if the individual does well in treatment and completes the drug and alcohol rehab facility that is ordered for them. First-time offenders are the most likely criminal justice clients because it has been proven that criminal justice clients who do experience rehabilitation in lieu of other consequences have significantly lower recidivism rates than those people who are ordered to time in jail or similar consequences. Eventually, it saves the court system both time and money when criminal justice clients obtain powerful treatment.
