DUI/DWI clients who're taking part in drug and alcohol rehabilitation facilities are either there on their own accord, but more often than not in alcohol and drug treatment due to a mandated order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, especially initial offenders could be ordered to rehabilitation either instead of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from rehabilitation as opposed to being punished because of their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been proven that those who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues rather than other penalties being forced upon them have far better odds of staying out from the courts than those who are fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In drug and alcohol rehab centers DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse drugs and alcohol, so that they can address these issues and find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances in their lives which prompt their substance abuse. This can certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people that may be affected by their drug or alcohol use when they drive while intoxicated later on. It is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
