DUI/DWI clients that are involved in drug rehab centers are either there by their own choice, but most of the time in drug rehab due to a mandatory court order. DUI/DWI clients, specifically initial offenders could be required to go to rehab either in lieu of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from rehabilitation as an alternative to being punished because of their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been proven that individuals who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues rather than other penalties being enforced upon them have greater odds of staying out of the courts than those who find themselves fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In alcohol and drug treatment facilities DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse drugs and alcohol, so that they can address these issues in order to find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances within their lives which trigger their drug or alcohol use. This may truly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people who may be impacted by their drug abuse if they drive while under the influence down the road. It is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
