Criminal justice clients are people who are in any sort of alcohol and drug rehabilitation facility due to a drug or alcohol related criminal offense. This will happen for instance if a person is convicted of a DUI or DWI, or for any other type of drug related offense that has led the judge to believe that the individual has any type of drug or alcohol use issue. Not every person has the option of getting involved in a drug and alcohol rehab center as a criminal justice client, but when this option is ordered from the judge it's wise that the individual try everything they can to take full advantage of this chance. On many occasions, other penalties and consequences might be completely eradicated or lessened when the individual does well in rehabilitation and finishes the drug treatment facility which has been ordered for them. First time offenders are the most likely criminal justice clients because it has been proven that criminal justice clients who take part in rehab in lieu of other consequences have much lower recidivism rates than those people who are ordered to time in jail or similar consequences. In the long run, it saves the court system both time and expense when criminal justice clients receive effective treatment.
