DUI/DWI clients that are taking part in drug rehabilitation centers are either there by their own choice, but usually in alcohol and drug rehabilitation as part of a mandatory court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, specifically initial offenders could possibly be required to go to treatment either in place of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from treatment as opposed to being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been verified that those who are treated for substance abuse issues as opposed to other penalties being enforced upon them have far better chances of staying out from the courts than those who find themselves fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In drug rehabilitation programs DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse drugs and alcohol, to enable them to address these problems and find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances in their lives which set off their drug abuse.
