Criminal justice clients are those who are in any sort of alcohol and drug rehabilitation program on account of alcohol or drug related offense. This will happen for example if someone else is convicted of drunk driving or DWI, and for any other type of drug related criminal offense that has led the judge to think the individual has any kind of drug abuse issue. Not everyone has the option of taking part in an alcohol and drug rehabilitation center as a criminal justice client, but when this approach is ordered by the court it is well advised that the individual do everything they are able to to make the most of this opportunity. In many cases, other penalties and consequences might be completely eradicated or lessened when the individual succeeds in rehabilitation and completes the drug and alcohol treatment program which was ordered for them. First time offenders are the most likely criminal justice clients because it has been proven that criminal justice clients who experience rehab instead of other penalties have significantly lower recidivism rates than those who find themselves ordered to prison time or similar consequences. In the end, it saves the court system both time and expense when criminal justice clients obtain effective treatment.
