DUI/DWI clients who are involved in drug and alcohol treatment centers are generally there on their own accord, but more often than not in drug rehabilitation due to a mandatory court order. DUI/DWI clients, especially initial offenders could be ordered to rehabilitation either in lieu of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from rehabilitation instead of being punished because of their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been proven that people who are treated for drug abuse issues rather than other penalties being forced upon them have much better chances of staying out from the court system than those who find themselves fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In drug and alcohol rehab programs DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse alcohol and drugs, so that they can address these problems and find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances within their lives which prompt their drug or alcohol use. This may truly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people that may be impacted by their drug or alcohol use if they drive while intoxicated down the road. This is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
