DUI/DWI clients who are involved in drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers are either there on their own accord, but generally in alcohol and drug rehab due to a mandated order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, especially first-time offenders might be ordered to rehabilitation either instead of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from rehab instead of being punished because of their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been proven that people who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues instead of other penalties being enforced upon them have greater odds of staying out from the courts than those who find themselves fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In drug and alcohol treatment centers DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse drugs and alcohol, to be able to address these issues and find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances in their lives which trigger their substance abuse. This will certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be affected by their drug abuse whenever they drive while intoxicated later on. This is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
