DUI/DWI clients that are involved in drug and alcohol treatment centers are either there by their own choice, but generally in drug rehab due to a mandatory order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, especially first-time offenders could be ordered to rehabilitation either instead of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehabilitation as an alternative to being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been established that those who are treated for substance abuse issues instead of other penalties being enforced upon them have much better chances of remaining out of the courts than those who are fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In alcohol and drug rehab facilities DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse drugs and alcohol, to enable them to address these issues and find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances in their lives which trigger their drug or alcohol use. This can truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people who may be affected by their drug or alcohol use should they drive while under the influence in the future. This is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
