DUI/DWI clients that are taking part in drug and alcohol rehab programs are either there on their own accord, but most of the time in drug and alcohol rehab due to a mandatory court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, especially first-time offenders might be ordered to rehab either instead of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehabilitation instead of being punished because of their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been established that people who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues as opposed to other penalties being enforced upon them have much better odds of staying out from the courts than those who are fined, ordered to prison time, etc. In drug rehabilitation facilities DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse alcohol and drugs, so that they can address these issues in order to find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances in their lives which prompt their drug abuse. This will truly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people who may be affected by their drug or alcohol use when they drive while intoxicated later on. It is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
