DUI/DWI clients who are involved in drug rehabilitation centers are either there by their own choice, but usually in alcohol and drug treatment due to a mandatory order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, specifically initial offenders could be required to go to rehabilitation either instead of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from treatment instead of being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been established that people who are treated for substance abuse issues as an alternative to other penalties being forced upon them have greater chances of remaining out from the courts than those who are fined, ordered to prison time, etc. In drug rehabilitation facilities DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to enable them to address these problems and find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances inside their lives which trigger their substance abuse. This could truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be impacted by their drug or alcohol use if they drive while under the influence in the future. It's a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
