Criminal justice clients are individuals who are in any kind of drug treatment center because of a drug or alcohol related crime. This will happen for instance if someone is found guilty of drunk driving or DWI, or for any other type of drug related crime that has led the judge to think that the individual has any type of drug or alcohol use issue. Not every person has the option of getting involved in a drug and alcohol rehab facility as a criminal justice client, but if this approach is ordered through the court it is wise that the individual do everything they can to get the most from this opportunity. Oftentimes, other penalties and consequences may be totally eliminated or lessened in the event the individual succeeds in treatment and finishes the alcohol and drug treatment center which has been ordered for them. First time offenders will be the most likely criminal justice clients because it has been established that criminal justice clients who do take part in treatment in place of other penalties have much lower recidivism rates than those who are ordered to time in jail or receive other penalties. Eventually, it saves a legal court system both time and expense when criminal justice clients receive effective rehabilitation.
